Our Story
Akidere Co. is a California-based indie art studio co-founded by a creative couple who makes cozy, anime-inspired illustrations, stickers, and creative goods. Our artwork centers around an original cast of characters we created. Each character has their own personality, dreams, friendships, and role within their community, creating a setting that feels alive and connected. From cafés and local markets to farms, festivals, and quiet moments in nature, every design is a small glimpse into the world we’re building. Drawing inspiration from cozy farming games and nostalgic slice-of-life storytelling, and anime-inspired character design, we create original art that celebrates comfort, creativity, and the beauty of everyday life.
The Meaning Behind Our Name
The name Akidere combines two inspirations that are at the heart of the studio. Aki (秋 / あき) is the Japanese word for autumn, reflecting both our artist's name and the season’s sense of warmth, nostalgia, and quiet comfort. Dere (デレ) comes from the Japanese term deredere, often used in anime and manga to describe someone who is affectionate, kind-hearted, and full of warmth. Together, Akidere reflects the cozy heartfelt warmth - like the quiet comfort of fall and the soft emotions found in meaningful connection.
